The process has begun! Today I lashed out and bought a new Mac Mini (Intel Core Duo) and with the help of my good friend Mike, moved The Gray Matter onto the new kit. Page generation has been cut down to about quarter of the old setup and I still haven't got around to upping the RAM to 1GB! Enjoy the newer faster site.
Gah - whilst trying to help out a friend, I inadvertently modified the firewall rules to lock everything out while I was working remotely. Long story short - when flushing the firewall rules, set the default policy to accept unless you have physical access to revert to working config! Otherwise (like today) you not only lock out intruders, you take out your connection you were using to manage the firewall, and can't reconnect to fix it!! DOH! Apologies to all. (See, even us über nerds get it wrong occasionally!)
Well, it was bound to happen. The blogs and links and stuff have attracted search engines to this site like flies to a BBQ! Consequently, I've had to slightly restrict the high-bandwidth sections to save my connection.To see the full-size (original) photos in the galleries, you now MUST LOG IN! Sorry about this, but it's the only consistent way I have of allowing "real" people to see anything they want, but preventing search engines leeching massive amounts of bandwidth.
WOOT! After almost two months wait, the Internet connection is upgraded! The new link is supposed to be faster, more reliable and provides me with a MUCH higher data allowance.
Dagnabbit! Just when you sit back and get a contented smile growing on your face at how well your network is going....BANG!!! The stinking web server throws a hard drive.

After a year or so of procrastination, I finally pulled my finger out and did some investigation. The good news is that we now have random photos back on the home page! Yay for me!
The fine folk over at Mozilla have released a new version of their web browser Firefox. If you want the latest-greatest web browser available then surf on over to the release page.UPDATE 1-Dec-2005: Firefox 1.5 has gone "stable". Go get it while it's hot! Same link as above :)
